Which plug-in solar kits are approved in the UK

UK plug-in solar kits must comply with the Interim Product Specification; check the exact kit’s ENA register entry for a “Compliant” status before choosing. The tracker below shows register status, seller, price and check date. The last full register check was 14 October 2026.

What approval means in the UK

Approval under the amended plug rules depends on compliance with the Plug-in Solar Device Interim Product Specification, not simply a seller’s description. SI 2026/848 has been in effect since 27 August 2026 and refers to version 2 of the specification, published on 16 July 2026. DESNZ says only compliant plug-in solar devices can be sold in the UK and plugged in under the amendment.

The legal limit is a maximum rated output of 800 W AC, not the wattage of the panels. The regulations create a route for a notified body to approve a BS 1363 plug for these devices; they also require specification compliance for installation and operation in Great Britain. See the UK legal rules for the territorial distinction.

  • Match the exact kit and model to its register entry.
  • Check that the entry says “Compliant”, not just that it exists.
  • Check the AC output separately from panel wattage.
  • Read the row’s check date and seller details.

Which kits are listed

Octopus Energy’s single-panel and two-panel bundles, UKSOL’s Compact and Duo kits, and specified EcoFlow and Zendure kits have compliant register records. On 14 October 2026, the ENA “Plug-in Solar” category contained 134 entries: 121 marked “Compliant” and 13 “Non-compliant”. The kit table filters for listed kits; use each row’s status when comparing.

The ENA lists EcoFlow’s EF-PS-800 + SPDG505-N108R12 kit and Zendure SolarFlow 800 configurations with floor, wall or balcony brackets. However, the register status of the EcoFlow STREAM microinverter and its rigid-panel store bundle was not confirmed at the check date. A listed kit from the same brand does not confirm a different bundle.

Plug-in batteries are a separate case: DESNZ says the specification does not extend to them. The legal definition excludes devices designed to draw household electricity for storage and later supply, apart from permitted control or auxiliary functions. EcoFlow STREAM Ultra, Ultra X and AC Pro, and Zendure SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and Pro were not on the plug-in solar register at the check date.

How the tracker is checked

The tracker compares exact kit names and configurations with the ENA Type Test Register’s “Plug-in Solar” category. Register status is recorded separately from seller specifications and prices. Each row carries its own checked date, so a later row check should not be confused with the last full check.

The register changes weekly, so weekly rechecks are needed to keep the tracker useful. “Not listed” means the tracker records the product as absent from that category; “unknown” means its register status has not been confirmed. Neither label should be read as “Compliant”.

Questions

Is G98 enough for plug-in solar approval?

A seller’s G98 claim does not establish compliance with the plug-in solar specification. Zendure names ENA G98 for its SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and Pro, but neither was on the plug-in solar register when checked on 14 October 2026.

Does every ENA register entry mean approval?

No: the plug-in solar category includes entries marked “Non-compliant”. Check the exact model and its compliance status, rather than relying on the presence of an entry.

Do the same regulations apply in Northern Ireland?

The amended plug provisions extend to Northern Ireland as well as Great Britain. The installation and operation amendment in Regulation 3 extends only to England, Wales and Scotland.
