EcoFlow STREAM review

EcoFlow STREAM is worth considering for a small grid-connected solar setup, but its US microinverter has no outage outlet and its UL 3700 status is not published. The official store offers panel bundles; your decision also depends on local rules, daytime electricity use and whether you need storage.

What STREAM sells in the US

EcoFlow’s US offering centers on the STREAM Microinverter, sold separately or with solar panels. Its output is up to 1,200 W AC; that is different from the DC rating of the panels attached to it. Buying the microinverter alone does not include panels.

EcoFlow describes storage integration with STREAM Ultra, with scalable capacity of 1.92–11.52 kWh. It also says the microinverter is exclusively compatible with STREAM Ultra for storage. US availability, standalone specifications and prices for STREAM Ultra, Ultra X, Pro and AC Pro are not published in the US material reviewed as of October 14, 2026.

EcoFlow rates the microinverter NEMA 6 and describes the solar panel as IP68 rated. Those ratings describe environmental protection, not permission to connect the system to your home. The product table separates panel capacity, inverter output and storage.

  • Microinverter alone: $369 on the official US store, checked October 14, 2026.
  • Microinverter with 400 W of panels: $799 on the official US store, checked October 14, 2026.
  • Microinverter with 800 W of panels: $1,099 on the official US store, checked October 14, 2026; sold out that day.
  • Microinverter with 4 × 400 W rigid panels: $1,899 on the official US store, checked October 14, 2026.

Certification claims need careful reading

EcoFlow says STREAM is UL 1741 certified, but that manufacturer claim is not confirmation of a UL listing. UL 3700 status is not published as of October 14, 2026. The certification information reviewed does not establish a UL listing.

EcoFlow’s page also uses the wording “IEEE1541-Certified.” That wording is reported as published, not silently changed to another standard. Neither the environmental ratings nor the manufacturer’s DIY description resolves the certification requirements in your state.

State caps are only one check

In Maine, STREAM’s 1,200 W AC output is above the 420 W limit without conditions; it fits the 1,200 W limit only with a licensed electrician, a dedicated circuit and notice to the utility. Laws are also in effect in Utah, Maryland, Vermont and Connecticut with 1,200 W limits, and Colorado with a 1,920 W limit. In Utah, Maryland, Connecticut and Colorado, the law does not say whether this is AC or DC output, and Vermont limits inverter capacity and names UL 3700.

California’s SB 868 sets a 1,200 W AC limit and New Jersey’s S 2368 a 1,200 W limit; they take effect on January 1, 2027, and March 1, 2027, respectively. New Hampshire (AC output) and Virginia have 1,200 W limits taking effect on January 1, 2027. New York’s bill awaits the governor’s signature: none of these statuses should be treated as an exemption already in effect.

EcoFlow’s installation FAQ says user installation is only available in Utah, despite its broader DIY advertising. That is narrower than the states with laws in effect. In a state without a plug-in solar law, do not assume the store’s plug-and-play description settles utility connection requirements; check the state law guide.

The calculator presets show production and savings, not installation permission. For the 400 W panel bundle, the calculator gives the results below in a typical year. Use the calculator for your address rather than treating these sample locations as a savings promise.

  • Los Angeles, California: 413 kWh a year, 86% used at home and $118 a year saved.
  • New York, New York: 366 kWh a year, 84% used at home and $91 a year saved.
  • Houston, Texas: 334 kWh a year, 88% used at home and $47 a year saved.

Who should consider another setup

STREAM is wrong for you if your main goal is an outlet that works during an outage. The microinverter-only and 800 W panel listings have no outage outlet. It is also a poor choice if you need published UL 3700 status before buying.

More panels do not translate directly into proportional bill savings. In Los Angeles, the calculator gives 826 kWh a year and $156 a year saved for the 800 W bundle, with 57% used at home. The 400 W bundle gives 413 kWh and $118, with 86% used at home; consider your daytime consumption before paying for more panels or storage.

For a different certification claim, pluggedsolar’s 400 W kit has up to 800 W AC output and costs $1,195 on its official store, checked October 14, 2026. Its seller says it meets UL 3700, but no UL listing was found. For storage, Zendure SolarFlow lists a 1,920 Wh battery and up to 900 W AC output at $3,932, checked October 14, 2026; it was sold out, and its UL 3700 status was not published. Compare these distinctions in the kit listings.

Warranty, app support and buying

EcoFlow provides a 10-year warranty for the STREAM Microinverter. That stated inverter warranty should not be read as a separate warranty promise for every panel or storage product. The official US store is the source of the dated prices above.

EcoFlow lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication, with Wi-Fi limited to 2.4GHz. It says the system integrates with third-party smart meters for real-time home energy monitoring through the EcoFlow app. Before buying, check stock, the applicable warranty terms and whether the advertised storage configuration is available in the US.

Questions

Is EcoFlow STREAM UL 3700 listed?

UL 3700 status is not published as of October 14, 2026. EcoFlow’s UL 1741 certification claim does not establish a UL 3700 listing.

Does EcoFlow STREAM include a battery?

The microinverter-only listing does not include storage. EcoFlow describes expandable storage through STREAM Ultra and says the microinverter is exclusively compatible with that model.

Can I install EcoFlow STREAM myself?

EcoFlow’s FAQ says users can install and maintain it themselves, but limits that statement to Utah. Its broader DIY advertising should not be treated as permission in another state.

How much can EcoFlow STREAM save?

Savings depend on location and how much solar electricity you use at home. For the 400 W bundle, the calculator gives $118 a year in Los Angeles, $91 in New York and $47 in Houston.
